Here are some more advanced features of the flipper stickfigure, the humanoid shape that we are all quite familiar with.  This page shows you how the average flipbook character should move, in the event that it could or would move.  On a computer, you could program such a thing to move only in a specific way...  such that it maintains its shape and its balance by establishing parameters for each arm to follow.
